"Franco took the time to show us the Chianti region. His knowledge and ability to relate to the two of us was excellent. He made our day very fun as we ate local foods, drank great wine, learned a lot and met the purveyors of the wineries.

His style is VERY laid back, so if you want a limo and a guy with a tie...this is the wrong tour.

"A friend and were in Florence in June. We were looking for a tour that would let us see some of Tuscany and were beyond happy with our choice of Franco Fadda. Franco picked us up from our hotel in Florence and even arrived early.

We got to the Chianti area quickly and the views were truly breathtaking. I should note here that Franco was an extremely safe driver, and after having just been on a tour the day before where the driver nearly slammed into a guard rail, we appreciated this greatly. He offered to stop whenever I wanted a photo but since every turn afforded a photo opportunity better than the last, I decided I instead must etch the day in my memory.

We started with a small winery and met the delightful Riccardo who shared his work with us and walked us through the wine making process. This glimpse helped us appreciate the small family winery. Our next visit was a larger winery which offered a contrast to the first one. At the large winery we got an unexpected look into the gates of a nearby villa, a magnificent piece of land that seemingly stretched to eternity.

Later we visited Volpaia and Radda in Chianti as well as other picturesque stops along the way, each one accompanied by interesting history of the area. I am always amazed how Italians know so much about the history of their country.

I am sure Franco has done this same day tour many times but we felt like it was intimate and personal and terribly unique. That is the mark of a good tour guide, when they can make you feel as though they and you are seeing something for the first time. I would recommend the knowledgeable and charming Franco to anyone who is looking for a small personalized tour of the Tuscany area.

"My husband and I arranged through the internet for a tour of Tuscany with Franco Fadda. Franco was very responsive to emails and put together the perfect experience for us.

He picked us up at our hotel in Siena bright and early to take advantage of a gorgeous November day in the Tuscan countryside. Franco is an excellent, safe driver and knows the country like the palm of his hand.

After a beautiful morning drive and introduction to the history and culture of the area, we tasted Brunello at a picturesque winery, hosted by the charming signora who is justly proud of her family's vineyard and delicious products.

After seeing more astounding countryside, we visited Montalcino, where we had superb cappuccini (especially welcome after morning wine tastings!)and a leisurely walk accompanied by a fascinating discussion. While never seeming hurried, Franco's timing for the day was perfect- we arrived at the sant'Antime abbey in time to hear the monks' hauntingly beautiful Gregorian chant,( we also met the abbey cat.)

We had a lovely lunch of Tuscan specialties accompanied by a superb bottle of Brunello (from our morning winery visit )and good conversation. While the day had many highlights, chief among them for me (an admitted "foodie" )was a visit to an olive grove where the gracious, warm proprietor shared tastings of recently pressed oils, insights and stories of his prize-winning product- absolutely astounding.

After walking in the olive grove and watching a cinematic sunset, Franco delivered us content and very happy back to our Siena hotel. We have already recommended Franco to friends who are thinking of going to Italy, and would take another tour with him in a heartbeat.
